Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko predicts that two new metro stations in Kyiv will be opened by 2027, in accordance with the contract signed with the current contractor. He made this statement in an interview with Kyiv TV channel.

Construction of the Mostytska and Prospekt Pravdy stations (now renamed Varshavska) began in 2019. They were initially scheduled to open in December 2021.

The Kyivmetrobud company (formerly state-owned, now private) was originally contracted by the city to carry out the construction but failed to fulfill its obligations, leading to the termination of the agreement.

A new contract for the station construction was signed with another contractor.

"Avtostrada has committed to the project, and I can honestly say that I’m satisfied with the pace of their work," Klitschko said. "I hope we won’t face any unforeseen circumstances, and that within two years, residents of Vynohradar will be able to enjoy the benefits of the Kyiv Metro. In other words, we aim to open the metro line to Vynohradar, including the Mostytska and Varshavska stations, within that time frame."

The contract between Kyiv Metro and Avtostrada stipulates a construction period of 30 months, meaning completion is expected in early 2027. The total cost of the project is UAH 13.785 billion.

In August 2024, Avtostrada owner Maksym Shkil stated that he was not ready to guarantee completion by 2027, expressing doubts that such a substantial amount of funding would be allocated during wartime.

Construction of the Vynohradar metro line resumed in November 2024. The previous contractor, whose agreement was terminated due to slow progress, had completed only about 30% of the work.
