On Wednesday, September 10, Lviv Municipal Motor Vehicle Enterprise No. 1 signed an agreement with the Electron Concern (Electronmash Plant LLC) to purchase 48 new buses for the city’s public transportation system, the City Council reported.

The purchase is being financed through a 10-year loan from the European Investment Bank worth €12 million.

The total contract amount is slightly higher, as Mayor Andriy Sadovyi noted that the cost of one bus is about €300,000 including taxes. This brings the total to around €14.4 million, or nearly 700 million UAH.

According to the contract, Lviv will receive 12-meter, low-floor Electron A18501 buses with a capacity of up to 100 passengers. The buses are equipped with air conditioning and ramps for passengers with disabilities.

"It is important that these buses will be manufactured by the Lviv-based company Electron, which has been hit by Russian missiles more than once. So this is not only new transport, but also support for a local producer and thousands of jobs for Lviv residents," Sadovyi said.

According to the manufacturer’s website, the buses are equipped with an American-made Cummins Euro-5 diesel engine, as well as transmission and chassis components from leading European manufacturers. They feature a reinforced body structure, independent front suspension for smoother rides and better maneuverability.

Safety features include a dual-circuit EBS pneumatic braking system with ABS and ASR, disc brakes, parking and hill-hold brakes, as well as an onboard computer with touchscreen displays for monitoring and diagnostics.

Electron’s city buses and electric buses are included in the official list of domestically produced machinery and equipment eligible for 15% state compensation (excluding VAT).
