Poland restricts flights along the border with Ukraine and Belarus for three months
In the eastern part of Poland, along the border with Ukraine and Belarus, a special restriction zone EP R129 has been introduced, which will be in effect for three months. About reported Polish Air Navigation Services Agency (PAŻP).
The restriction was imposed by the decision of the Operational Command of the Armed Forces of Poland. It came into effect at 22:00 on September 10 and will last until 23:59 on December 9.
According to the new rules, flights in this zone are completely prohibited at night (from sunset to sunrise), except for military aircraft.
Daytime flights are only allowed:
- for aircraft with a submitted flight plan, a working transponder, and constant radio communication with controllers;
- military aircraft;
- under the code names GARDA, ALPHA SCRAMBLE;
- with the status HEAD, STATE, SAR, HOSP, MEDEVAC, FFR.
Civilian drones are prohibited in the EP R129 area around the clock.
In some cases, after coordination with operational services, flights of government aircraft, rescue helicopters, and flights related to disaster relief, emergencies, or critical infrastructure protection will be allowed.
The Polish Ministry of Defense explained that the restrictions were introduced to ensure the security of the state.
- On the night of September 10, during a massive Russian attack on Ukraine "Shahids" flew into Poland. Prime Minister Tusk said about 19 airspace violations. The country's Interior Ministry reported that in addition to drone debris found fragments of the missile.
