Romania vows support to help Ukraine boost agricultural exports to 4M tons monthly

Thanks to cooperation with Romania, Ukrainian agricultural exports through the Black Sea will increase to 4 million tons, stated the Minister of Infrastructure Oleksandr Kubrakov at the conference The Reconstruction of Ukraine: A Strategic Role for Romania.

"We already have a successful case – together with our Romanian partners, we are increasing the export capacity of Ukrainian ports on the Danube. In 11 months, the volume of transshipment through the Danube ports has already amounted to almost 30 million tons. Thanks to joint work and agreement, we should reach 4 million tons of export capacity per month," said Kubrakov.

According to the Ukrainian minister, the Romanian port of Constanța is a strategic hub for uninterrupted cargo movement. The development of international transport corridors, which include Constanța will contribute to the sustainability of the logistics chain, despite geopolitical constraints, he explained.

Romania agreed to create an anchorage for Ukrainian grain in the port of Constanța. According to the CEO of the state-owned Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company Dmytro Moskalenko, Bucharest promised to hold a tender and develop a regulatory framework in January-February. The anchorage is expected to be put into operation in March.

At the beginning of December, a year after the agreement, Romania switched the Sulina canal on the Danube to 24-hour operation. This will significantly increase its throughput.

The harvest in Ukraine in 2023 turned out to be even better than expected. The yield record was observed for almost all crops.
