Russia strikes Ukraine’s largest port with Shahed drones — photos
Destruction reported at Pivdennyi port after a night-time Russian drone attack
Russian forces attacked Ukraine’s largest seaport, Pivdennyi, north of Odesa, with Shahed drones overnight on January 28, according to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Communities and Territorial Development Oleksiy Kuleba and the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority.
Kuleba said the drone strike caused a fire at the port.
"Logistics infrastructure was destroyed, while hangars, a locomotive, and production facilities were damaged," he said on social media.
The Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority said there were no casualties or injuries and that the port continues to operate as usual.
Russian missile and drone attacks overnight also targeted the Kyiv region, Kryvyi Rih, and Zaporizhzhia.
- Earlier, on January 15, a sailor was wounded in a ballistic missile strike on a pier in the port of Chornomorsk.
