Igor Smelyansky, CEO of Ukrposhta , plans to resign after the creation of Ukrposhta Bank. He said this in an interview with Ekonomichna Pravda .

"I have a plan to sell the bank, because it is the last thing I have left. When we are done, I will leave," said Smelyansky, who has been heading the company since 2016 .

"I once said that I set an example of how to come to office, there was an open competition, and I was elected. I want to set an example of how to leave office. You don't have to sit while they kick you out," he added .

Smelyansky's plan so far runs into the position of the National Bank, which considers Ukrposhta unprepared to create a bank due to its unprofitability and insufficient capitalization.

"I believe this is the personal position of the National Bank Governor [Andriy Pyshny]. He does not like me," Smelyansky said .

He suggested that "in the end, probably, the president will decide who is right" and hinted that he might soon contact the President's Office to resolve the issue.
