Cabinet of Ministers approves new Supervisory Board of Ukrzaliznytsia
On October 1, the Cabinet of Ministers approved a new composition of the Supervisory Board of Ukrzaliznytsia, the government website reported.
The board includes four independent members:
→ Elżbieta Ewa Bieńkowska (Poland) – former Minister of Infrastructure of Poland and European Commissioner
→ Gepard Hafer (Germany) – logistics expert, formerly at Deutsche Bahn
→ Maksym Moklyak – former acting head of the State Fiscal Service in 2015
→ Anatoliy Amelin – entrepreneur, co-founder of the Ukrainian Institute for the Future
State representatives are:
→ David Lomdzharia (Georgia) – Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Ukroboronprom
→ Serhiy Leshchenko – former MP and journalist
→ Oleksandr Kamyshyn – former Chairman of Ukrzaliznytsia and former Minister of Strategic Industries (still serving, appointed in 2024)
Hafer, Amelin, Lomdzharia, and Leshchenko were previously members of the Supervisory Board, while Moklyak and Bieńkowska are newly appointed.
The independent members were selected through an open competition organized by the Nomination Committee, with the participation of an international recruitment company and funding from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
- By law, the Supervisory Board of Ukrzaliznytsia consists of seven members, with a majority required to be independent. Members serve three-year terms and may be re-elected an unlimited number of times.
