Ukrzaliznytsia received six new model reserved cars: manufactured by KVSZ
At the end of April, Kryukiv Carriage Works (KVSZ) handed over six new reserved seats to Ukrzaliznytsia. This was reported by its press service .
"The 2025 model car is fundamentally new," the report says.
Although the cars use the body of the previous 61-779 model, everything else in these cars is new, including the entire interior.
They have already been added to trains #21/22 Kharkiv-Lviv and #103/104 Lviv-Kramatorsk.
The car has 58 passenger seats: nine boxes with six seats each and a four-seat tenth box without side shelves.
The new second-class cars have a bright interior, improved shelf upholstery, partitions between the boxes and the aisle, seats on the upper shelves, individual dimmable lights, USB ports and sockets for all passengers, and an updated air conditioning and ventilation system.
Previously, Ukrzaliznytsia had not purchased reserved seats from KVSZ, so this is the first such model from this manufacturer.
"This is the first purchase of second-class cars since Ukraine's independence, and it is fully funded from the state budget. The state supports the modernization of the railway, and this area will remain one of the priorities in the coming years," said Oleksiy Balesta, Deputy Minister of Community and Territorial Development.
- In October 2023, Ukrzaliznytsia and Kryukiv Plant signed a contract for 44 passenger cars, and in December - for another 22 cars .
- Under these contracts, UZ will receive 16 reserved seats. The company said that the last time it bought new reserved seats was in 2008.
