Ukrainian Railways JSC has put two modernized electric trains into service after major repairs, expanding its passenger fleet, the company announced on Facebook.

The newer ER9T-733, built in 1994, will operate on routes in the Odesa region, while the older ER9E-590, built in 1982, will serve the Kyiv Ring Railway and suburban routes in Kyiv region.

According to Ukrzaliznytsia, eight trains have undergone major overhauls at the Kyiv Electric Carriage Repair Plant (KEVRZ) since the start of this year. Both newly modernized trains required comprehensive restoration after decades of operation.

The three-month modernization process included not only technical upgrades but also passenger comfort improvements. The cars are now equipped with accessible seating with Braille signage and ramps for people with disabilities, designated spaces for bicycles, and changing tables for parents with small children.
