Amid ongoing war, Ukraine's rail operator hits freight transport record
In November, Ukrzaliznytsia transported 14 million tons of cargo – 33.8% more than in the same period of 2022, and 4% more than in October 2023. This is an all-time record for the full-scale invasion, according to the company's website.
In domestic traffic, the state rail company transported 7.3 million tons in November 2023 (19% more than in November last year), export traffic increased to 6 million tons (by 56.2%), import traffic to 0.68 million tons (by 35. 4%), transit – up to 0.07 million tons (2.2 times).
Ukrzaliznytsia named the main cargoes that are currently transported in Ukraine:
→ grain – 3 million tons (+13%)
→ aggregates – 3 million tons (+61.8%),
→ iron and manganese ore – 3 million tons (+2.5 times),
→ hard coal – 2 million tons (-7.7%).
Directly in the export mix, grain became the leader – 2.4 million tons, which is 13% more than in November 2022 and 40.4% more than in October 2023.
