A delegation of executives from Ryanair, Europe's largest low-cost airline, arrived in Ukraine on Thursday to discuss the resumption of flights in the future, Boryspil International Airport said in a statement.

"Representatives of Boryspil Airport are meeting the top management of Ryanair – Ryanair Group CEO Michael O'Leary, Ryanair DAC CEO [Ryanair Irish entity] Eddie Wilson, and Ryanair DAC Commercial Director Jason McGuinness," the statement said.

The Irish guests came to Boryspil by rail.

"While planes are not flying to Boryspil, Ukrzaliznytsia [Ukrainian Railways] is kindly delivering Ryanair's management to Boryspil," the company said.

The parties are discussing a partnership between Ryanair and Boryspil Airport regarding the airline’s strategic plan to quickly resume air travel once Ukraine wins the war and the European Aviation Safety Authority (EASA) confirms that Ukrainian skies are safe to fly.

In April, Mr O'Leary stated that Ryanair was ready to resume flights to Ukraine as soon as it was safe to do so.

Before the Russian invasion, Ryanair was the second largest airline in Ukraine.
