During the full-scale war, from 2022 to the first quarter of 2024, 1261 agricultural enterprises closed in Ukraine, according to a study by YouControl.Market.

Other sectors with significant closures include wholesale trade, real estate operations, and construction companies.

The share of legal service firms among closed businesses doubled during the war. In 2021, the legal sector accounted for 2.3% of all business closures in Ukraine, while during the war, the share of closed legal companies rose to 4.7%.

The intensity of company liquidations decreased in the water supply, wood processing, and retail and wholesale trade sectors during more than two years of war.

The rate of official business liquidations during the full-scale war increased the most in Odesa, Zaporizhzhia, and Kyiv oblasts.

In Kherson, Kharkiv, and Donetsk oblasts, there was a significant decrease in the number of business closures, which can be attributed to the occupation of parts of these regions rather than to improved business conditions.

In 2023, more than 4,000 businesses closed in Ukraine, which is half the number compared to the pre-war year of 2021.
