Ukraine adds largest Turkish glass producer to list of sponsors of war
The National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP) has added the Turkish Sisecam Group to the list of international sponsors of war. The company continues to do business in Russia and remains the largest Russian exporter in its field, the press service of the agency reports.
Since the beginning of the Russian aggression, since 2014, Sisecam Flat Glass has been producing architectural, building and automotive glass in Russia at the Alabuga plant in the Republic of Tatarstan.
In Russia, Sisecam's consolidated production volumes of sheet glass, glass containers and glassware exceed 1.5 million tons per year, and total investment amounts exceed $1.25 billion. The company provides jobs for 3,414 employees at its factories in Russia.
Subsidiary companies of Sisecam Group, which manufacture sheet glass, glass dishes and glass containers, paid more than $11.2 million in taxes in the Russian Federation for 2022.
The management of Sisecam Group did not voice its position regarding the condemnation of Russia's war against Ukraine.
On August 17, 2023, Ukraine recognized the owner of AliBaba marketplace as a war sponsor.
On August 24, Ukraine recognized Philip Morris and Japan Tobacco International as sponsors of war.
On September 1, Ukraine added PepsiCo and Mars to the list of international sponsors of war.
