Bribe to Dnipro mayor: former MP's arrest extended for 60 days with lower bail

The High Anti-Corruption Court granted the request of the prosecutor to extend the pre-trial restriction for the former MP Maksym Mykytas, who is suspected of attempting to bribe the mayor of Dnipro, Borys Filatov, reported the press service of Transparency International.

The prosecutor asked to extend the detention for another 60 days, with the alternative of bail of 85 million hryvnias ($2.3 million). 

The court granted the request in part: extended detention until May 29 with the possibility of bail of 80 million hryvnias ($2.2 million). Mykytas was present at the hearing.

From the beginning, the lowest court set bail in the amount of UAH 260 million ($7.1 million), but as a result of appeals, the amount was revised.

If bail is granted, Mykytas will be required to wear an electronic tag, appear at the prosecutor's office and the court at the first request, refrain from communicating with witnesses, hand in his external passport, and notify him of a change in his place of residence and place of work.

Maksym Mykytas was detained in October 2022 at the report of Dnipro Mayor Borys Filatov. He claimed that the ex-legislator and developer offered him 22 million euros for the participation of certain companies in the construction of the subway in Dnipro.
