Ukraine facilitates seed certification, in line with EU standards
The Ukrainian government has adopted a resolution to simplify the procedures for assessing the conformity of seeds and planting material in determining their varietal qualities, it said in a statement.

The resolution, meant to fulfil Ukraine's European integration obligations, allows farmers to conclude agreements on the field assessment of seed crops or plantations with an independent auditor without involving a state certification body.
It also sets requirements for the auditor to maintain the confidentiality of the information received during the performance of work and be independent from the commercial or other interests.
Auditors will be held personally liable for the accuracy of the information included in their field assessment reports and rejection reports for seed crops and perennial plantings.
The resolution "will help to establish a clear and transparent mechanism for the certification of seeds and planting material", the Ukrainian government says.
It is the latest in a series of decisions meant to bring Ukraine closer to the EU as it seeks to start accession negotiations by the end of the year.
In April, Ukraine’s president Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed the law introducing a number of European standards in the field of civil aviation of Ukraine.
