Russian strike on Ukrainian port damages grain export facilities, burns 13K tons of grain

After today's night attack by Russia, the export capacity of the port of Izmail was reduced by 15%, reported Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration Oleksandr Kubrakov.

Several private grain terminals and warehouses, cargo infrastructure were damaged at once. 13,000 tons of grain destined for Egypt and Romania were destroyed.

This was already the eighth attack on the port infrastructure after Russia withdrew from the "grain initiative". In total, 270,000 tons of grain were destroyed during the month of attacks on the ports.

"The world must understand that attacks on the grain infrastructure are attacks on countries in Africa and Asia, which are already short of food. These are attacks on the world food markets, which have already reacted by increasing the price of wheat due to the lack of Ukrainian food after the suspension of the "grain initiative" and attacks on the Danube ports," commented the official.

According to him, powerful protection systems for Ukrainian ports are required to ruin Russia's plans.

On August 2, Russia struck the city of Izmail in southern Ukraine. More than 10 enemy drones were shot down. As a result of the attack, the Izmail naval station was destroyed, which was restored only four years ago. Also, Russia's attack on the port of Izmail led to a hike in global food prices.
