In three months of the summer of 2023, nuclear power plants produced 19% more electricity than forecast indicators for this period, adding an average of 500 million kWh to the integrated power system of Ukraine every month, according to the press service of Energoatom.

In total, during the summer months, Energoatom produced 9.7 billion kWh, which is 1.5 billion kWh more than the projected electricity output by nuclear plants.

This made it possible to sufficiently cover the needs of consumers and prevent a possible shortage of electricity due to non-fulfillment of the projected electricity production by thermal power plants (almost 940 billion kWh) in the summer period.

Despite Ukrenergo's calculations regarding the reduction of electricity production and its significant deficit due to the removal of a large number of power units for repair, no actual imbalance occurred in the summer period.

In total, since the beginning of the year, Energoatom has produced 4.2 billion kWh of electricity more than the established plan.

On Sunday, Ukraine began switching the oldest nuclear power units to Westinghouse fuel .

On Monday, Germany announced plans to build a wind farm around the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant.
