The project includes the introduction of sensors and software for monitoring the safety of technological processes.
The tech will allow Ukrenergo to better identify potential cyber threats to technological networks and respond effectively to them.
Cisco and Ukrenergo will also work to modernise the Ukrainian power grid infrastructure and improve control and protection systems to increase the resilience of the power system synchronisation with the continental European power grid, ENTSO-E.
Ukrenergo employees will be provided with on-site expert support through Webex-expert to speed up and improve the quality of work via mobile communication infrastructure to be built at the pilot substation.
Training and experience exchange will be organised to enable the implementation of modern technologies.
Cisco will support the implementation of the water heater load balancing project aimed at reducing the load on the power system during peak consumption hours.
"By combining our expertise and leading Cisco solutions in digital technologies, we strive to develop a modern, sustainable and efficient power system that meets today's challenges," Serhii Halahan, a member of the board of Ukrenergo, was quoted as saying.
He added that Cisco was already providing Ukrenergo with equipment for the project.
