Germany, EIB give 20 million euros to Ukrainian communities for renewable energy sources
The German government and the European Investment Bank (EIB) will provide Ukraine with a grant of 20 million euros for the implementation of renewable energy technologies in Ukrainian communities, reported the press service of the Ministry of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development.
Assistance will be provided to equip schools, hospitals, kindergartens and other public buildings with solar energy systems, geothermal heat pumps and biomass energy.
The German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) is expected to provide the technical assistance and consultancy services necessary for the successful implementation of the programme.
"Public buildings consume a significant amount of energy for lighting, heating, cooling, and electrical appliances. The integration of renewable energy has several advantages: continuity of services, cost savings, emission reduction, increased sustainability, and reduced price volatility," commented Infrastructure Minister Oleksandr Kubrakov.
Germany allocated 50 million euros to finance Ukrainian businesses under the 5-7-9% program.
A program for the development of women's entrepreneurship was also launched In Ukraine where female entrepreneurs can get up to $3,000.
