Polish farmers briefly renew truck blockade at one Ukrainian border checkpoint

Polish farmers have blocked the movement of trucks at the Dolhobyczów-Uhryniv checkpoint, reported the press service of the State Customs Service.

The protest will be short and will last from 9 AM to 4 PM today. At this time, the movement of freight transport will be blocked both for entry and exit from Ukraine.

Passenger buses and cars can cross the border without obstacles, the State Customs Service notes.

The blocking of the border is connected with the protests of farmers in Poland, who oppose the "green course" of the European Union.

A group of farmers from the Orka Agricultural Union started a protest in the Sejm on Thursday. Today, a large demonstration of farmers is planned in Warsaw and other cities. Among the protestors' slogans is a ban on opening the border for products from Ukraine, Agropolska reports.

Border crossings on the Ukrainian-Polish border have been working as usual since April 29, when the blockade of the last checkpoint Rava-Ruska-Hrebenne was lifted.

Before that, from the beginning of February, Polish farmers blocked traffic at most border crossings with Ukraine.

Polish farmers started a nationwide protest on February 9. They began to obstruct traffic at checkpoints with Ukraine. The National Bank of Ukraine estimated the loss of Ukrainian imports from the blockade of the border in February alone at $400 million. After the border was unblocked, the import of automobile fuel from Poland and the Baltics to Ukraine soared by 60%.
