Slovak carriers are resuming their protest at the Vyšné Nemecké-Uzhhorod checkpoint today, from 3:00 p.m., reported the press service of the State Customs Service of Ukraine.

The protesters will only block the movement of trucks moving out of Ukraine, the SCSU explains.

Protesters will not obstruct the movement of large-sized transport from Slovakia yet. The passenger route will continue to operate as usual.

The carriers made the decision to resume the blockade "on the basis of an assessment of the received information and its impact on the Slovak motor vehicle market. We join the protests organized in Poland from November 6, 2023 and also in Hungary from December 11, 2023," says the official statement of the Haulers' Union of Slovakia (UNAS).

The State Customs Service asks carriers to take this information into account and choose the nearest checkpoints Chop-Zahony on the border with Hungary or Dyakove-Halmeu with Romania for border crossing.

As of this morning, there are 1,349 trucks in the queue for exit (eCherha), 650 for entry, at the Uzhhorod–Vyšné Nemecké checkpoint.

For the first time, a protester from UNAS blocked the Vyšné Nemecké checkpoint on December 1. He demanded to cancel the agreement between the EU and Ukraine on "transport visa-free regime".

The protest lasted until the evening of December 4.

Vyšné Nemecké is the only road point for cargo passage on this section of the border.

On December 4, 2023, Ukraine offered Slovakia to sign an agreement on joint border control.

On December 9, Hungarian haulers announced that they would join the actions at the border from Monday.
