Ukrainian court extends detention of oligarch Kolomoisky through early December
The Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Kyiv granted the request of the Economic Security Bureau and extended the term of arrest of businessman Ihor Kolomoisky until December 2, 2023 inclusive. This decision was made by investigating judge Olena Meleshak on Friday.
The size of the bail remains the previous 1,450,000 subsistence minimums for able-bodied persons, i.e. 3.9 billion hryvnias ($107 million).
Like judge Inna Mikheeva three days ago, judge Meleshak ordered the management of the detention center where Kolomoisky is under arrest to organize a full medical examination for him.
Kolomoisky's lawyers say that his condition has worsened due to pancreatitis and diabetes.
Kolomoisky was charged with fraud and money laundering on September 2, 2023. Given a $14 million bail, he remained detained as charges grew to include two more counts. The court then increased bail to $104 million, which the oligarch did not post. An appeal to overturn his custody was denied by the Kyiv Court of Appeal later that month.
