Only 17% of Americans support purchasing Greenland – Reuters poll

Only 17% of Americans approve of the US president's efforts Donald Trump acquire Greenland. A significant majority of both Democrats and Republicans oppose the use of military force to gain control of the island. Such data contains poll Reuters/Ipsos.
A two-day survey, completed Tuesday, found widespread concern among Americans about Trump's threats against NATO ally Denmark, which has owned Greenland for centuries.
Almost half of those surveyed – 47% – did not approve of the US idea of buying the island. Another 35% said they were undecided. About one in five respondents had not heard of any plans for Greenland at all.
The idea of using military force to seize Greenland has received minimal support. Only 4% of Americans, including just one in ten Republicans and almost no Democrats, think it is a good idea.
Instead, 71% called it a bad idea – including nine in 10 Democrats and six in 10 Republicans. About a third of Republicans were undecided.
About 66% of those surveyed are concerned that US attempts to acquire Greenland will harm the NATO alliance and relations with European partners. Among them, 91% of Democrats and 40% of Republicans.
Only 10% of respondents agreed that the United States should use military force to acquire new territories like Greenland or the Panama Canal, up from 9% in a similar poll conducted a year ago shortly after Trump returned to the White House.
The new Reuters/Ipsos survey was conducted online nationwide and surveyed 1,217 American adults.
