Svyrydenko: Lithium deposit in Kirovohrad region may become the first project from the US

The Dobra lithium deposit in Kirovohrad region may become the first pilot project within the framework of the American-Ukrainian Reconstruction Fund. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Economy Yulia Svyrydenko following the meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission on the Organization of the Conclusion and Implementation of Production Sharing Agreements (PSA).
Svyrydenko noted that investors are interested in several Ukrainian deposits. One of them is the Dobra lithium deposit in the Kirovohrad region.
"The working group will process the appeal regarding its development. If all the requirements of the law are met, at the next meeting we will launch the procedure for announcing a competition for all interested companies," Svyrydenko noted.
She added that this field potentially falls under the mandate of the American-Ukrainian Reconstruction Fund, and its development could become the first pilot project within the framework of joint investment.
In the context of the global "green transition" and growing demand for batteries, lithium mining projects "can reduce risks for our strategic partners and integrate Ukraine into global supply chains," Svyrydenko noted.
In Ukraine, such initiatives also meet commitments under the Ukraine Facility program, particularly in the management of critical materials.
- The intergovernmental agreement between Ukraine and the United States on the creation of the American-Ukrainian Investment Fund for Reconstruction will include not only new, but also dormant licenses. First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy Yulia Svyrydenko emphasized that the fund will be filled with income exclusively from NEW licenses, but this is not entirely true.
- In early May, the Ministry of Environment took up dormant licenses and announced the start of inspections.
