Ukraine’s trade deficit hits $11.5 billion as imports nearly double exports

Ukraine's trade turnover in the first four months of 2025 amounted to $38.1 billion, according to data from the State Customs Service.
Imports reached $24.8 billion, while exports amounted to $13.3 billion. The trade deficit of $11.5 billion was 35% higher than during the same period of the previous year.
The main suppliers of goods to Ukraine are China ($5.2 billion), Poland ($2.3 billion), and Germany ($2.1 billion), while the main imports are machinery and equipment, chemicals, and fuel and energy products.
Ukraine exported most of its goods to Poland – $1.6 billion, Turkey – $932 million, Italy – $843 million.
The top three categories of Ukrainian exports are:
→ food products – $7.6 billion;
→ metals and metal products – $1.5 billion;
→ machinery, equipment and transport – $1.2 billion.
