Ukroboronprom among world's 50 largest defense companies for the first time
JSC Ukrainian Defense Industry took the 49th place in the ranking of the world's largest defense companies by salesm which is evidenced by the Defense News rating.
Last year, Ukroboronprom secured the 65th spot in the rankings, according to Alexander Kamyshin, the Minister of Strategic Industries. In a year, the company advanced by 16 positions.
Of the 100 largest defense companies in the world, it is Ukroboronprom that is growing the fastest — its revenue for 2023 increased by 72% to $2.207 billion. In the first half of 2024, this pace was maintained.
Italian Fincantieri SpA took 48th place, overtaking Ukroboronprom, with a turnover of $2.23 billion. Turkish Aerospace Industries is in 50th place, whose turnover increased by 49% over the past year and amounted to $2.206 billion.
"The goal of the entire Ukrainian defense industry is one – to produce as many weapons as possible for the Defense Forces, to produce them as quickly as possible and with the highest possible quality, to adapt and modernize every minute in order to save the lives of our soldiers and make all Russians who invaded our land good Russians," wrote Kamyshin.
The minister predicts that after the victory, the defense industry will become one of the most important export directions of the Ukrainian economy.
The first place in the rating is occupied by the American Lockheed Martin Corporation, which received $67.6 billion in revenue last year. In second place is the Aviation Industry Corporation of China, whose sales for 2023 increased by 45% and amounted to $44.9 billion. The third place is occupied by the American RTX with sales of $40.6 billion.
The world's top ten defense companies also include Northrop Grumman, General Dynamics, Boeing, BAE Systems, China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited, China North Industries Group Corporation Limited and L3Harris Technologies.
On February 20, 2024, the Ukrainian Defense Industry state holding signed a memorandum with the German company MBDA Deutschland.
On June 10, Ukroboronprom and Rheinmetall opened the first joint workshop for the repair and production of armored vehicles.
On July 9, Ukroboronprom opened its first foreign representative office in the US capital of Washington.
