Audi has sold the company that developed the design of the Lanos

The Audi Group announced on Wednesday the sale of a controlling stake in the Italian design and engineering company Italdesign. Its new owner will be the American technology company UST, says on the Audi website.

Italdesign is one of the most famous design studios in automotive history. For 57 years, it has created more than 300 models, including: Daewoo Lanos, the first Volkswagen Golf, DMC DeLorean from the movie Back to the Future, Maserati and Lotus sports cars and many others.

Lamborghini, which has owned Italdesign since 2010, retains a stake in the company, while Audi remains a strategic partner and important customer. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed .

UST is a US-based IT company (formerly known as UST Global) that provides digital transformation, software development, cloud computing, and consulting services.
