In Poland, there is a growing demand for procurement specialists, and their salaries are growing faster than in the IT sector. The main driver of growth is the dynamic development of shared service centers, writes polish edition of money.

According to a study conducted by Antal, Sodexo and the Polish Association of Logistics and Purchasing Managers, 72% of experts are positive about the sector's growth prospects, and 26% consider them very good.

"One of the manifestations of this phenomenon is a 10% increase in salaries for supply chain specialists. This is one of the largest salary increases at the beginning of the decade," said Monika Drozdziak, Director of Sodexo Polska.

At the same time, salary growth in the IT sector, which is considered one of the highest paid, was much more modest: last year it was only 1%.

According to Deloitte, Poland is a leader in the number of shared services centers (SSCs). Today, almost a third of procurement managers manage budgets exceeding PLN 50 million (about $14 million).

  • Shared Services Centers (SSC) is a separate division of an organization that provides one or more services that are not the company's core business. Usually, these are accounting, HR, IT support, procurement, customer support (contact center), etc.
  • Procurement specialists often work in the SSC, especially in large international companies. They are responsible for purchasing goods and services and selecting suppliers. Their responsibilities also include negotiating contracts, monitoring order fulfillment, and keeping track of purchases.
