Amazon signaled to publishing industry leaders about plans to launch a marketplace where publishers can sell their content to companies developing products based on artificial intelligence. About this reports Reuters.

Ahead of the conference, Amazon Web Services distributed presentation materials that mentioned the creation of a content marketplace, the report said, citing two people who discussed the project with Amazon representatives.

The report notes that in the slides, AWS shows how it integrates this market with its key AI tools, including Bedrock and Quick Suite, offering publishers products they can use in their commercial operations.

The emergence of such information comes amid negotiations between publishers and companies working in the field of artificial intelligence regarding the terms of use of online content – both for training models and for generating responses for users.

Publishers insist on introducing paid access, the amount of which will depend on the volume of use of their materials.

An Amazon spokesperson said the company "doesn’t have anything specific to share at this time," while emphasizing that Amazon builds long-term partnerships with publishers and continues to invest in innovation.

Meanwhile last week Microsoft announced that it is working on the Publisher Content Marketplace (PCM), a publisher content marketplace that should function as a licensing hub for artificial intelligence and reflect the terms of use of content set by the publishers themselves.
