In the first half of 2025, demand from Russians for real estate in the United States increased by 78.5% compared to the same period last year. About this writes The Moscow Times.

This situation emerged after Donald Trump became president of the United States .

The United States ranked ninth among the most popular destinations for Russians to invest in foreign real estate, with a share of 3.6% of total demand.

Analysts attribute the growing interest to the stabilization of Russians' activity in foreign markets and the desire to diversify investment portfolios.

In addition, a survey by the Russian Levada Center, conducted in May 2025, showed that for the first time in 13 years, the United States has ceased to be the "main enemy" in the perception of the majority of respondents.

Thus, only 40% of Russians consider the United States to be "the most hostile country to Russia," which is almost half as many as last year.

According to the National Association of Realtors (NAR), Russians account for less than 1% of all foreign buyers of residential real estate in the United States.

At the same time, they tend to buy more expensive properties than other foreigners. The average purchase amount by Russians was $652,915, which is significantly higher than the average among others – $480,695.

Most Russians buy homes in the U.S. for permanent residence, while 36% buy them for vacation or rent.

  • on June 17, 2025, Bloomberg wrote that the discussion between G7 leaders at the summit in Canada did not prompt Trump to tighten sanctions against Russia.
  • On the same day, Trump said that the US is not imposing sanctions against Russia, as it is allegedly waiting for a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine.
