The Bureau of Economic Security seized 11 luxury cars during the investigation of criminal proceedings on illegal coffee production in Kyiv region. About said press service of the BES.

Among the seized vehicles are Maserati Quattroporte, Mercedes-Benz S 65, Ford Explorer, Dodge Durango, Dodge Charger, Chrysler 300 S, Chrysler 300, CHEVROLET CORVETTE and others.

Six people were served notices of suspicion of illegal use of a trademark and money laundering (Part 3 of Article 229 and Part 3 of Article 209 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, large-scale production of counterfeit coffee was organized in warehouses in Kyiv region.

The counterfeit products were sold under the guise of coffee of well-known global brands – wholesale and retail via the Internet, retail outlets and local markets.

"In addition, according to available information, the suspects legalized more than UAH 100 million of proceeds from illegal activities," the BES said.

During the searches, equipment for the production, processing and packaging of coffee products, printing equipment, finished products, cash, computer equipment, mobile phones, documentation, etc. were seized.

Earlier, the BES detectives together with cyber police operatives have already conducted searches at one of the production facilities of this network. At that time, property including equipment and finished products worth more than UAH 20 million was seized.

"However, by court order, part of the seized property was returned to the owners, which allowed the suspects to resume their illegal activities," the Bureau of Economic Security noted.

  • Earlier in July, Ukraine exposed clandestine production of pesticides with a turnover of hundreds of millions of hryvnias. Police conducted 89 searches in Kyiv and 11 regions. 20 cars were seized.
