Ukraine has estimated the volume of grain stolen by Russians from the temporarily occupied territories at 2 million tons, the Minister of Foreign Affairs said on Thursday. Andriy Sybiha on the social network X.

"Moscow supplied it to the markets of Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. Almost 40% of the volume was delivered to Egypt," the minister wrote.

"I urge our European partners to begin a systematic counteraction to this Russian crime and the threat to global food security that it poses. All Russian infrastructure involved in the theft of Ukrainian grain, as well as its buyers, must be sanctioned by Europe as soon as possible," Sybiga wrote.

Ukrainian intelligence has identified 45 vessels involved in the theft of Ukrainian grain and its transportation to world markets. Sanctions have already been imposed against 43 of them, as well as against 39 captains.

"In 2026, the Black Sea, the Sea of Azov, and the Baltic Sea must be completely cleared of any Russian shadow fleets," the minister urged.

  • On December 26, the Ministry of Economy announced that Ukraine has harvested 57.6 million tons of grain. and 17.3 million tons of oilseeds. After the corn harvest is completed, the total grain production is expected to be around 60 million tons.
