Russian Federation strikes at Kernel's assets in Odesa region: oil and fat plant in Chornomorsk damaged

On the night of December 25 during the Russian shelling of the Odesa region the company's assets were affected Kernel – the largest producer and exporter of sunflower oil in Ukraine. The Ilyichevsk Oil and Fat Plant in Chornomorsk was hit, said kernel.
The drone hit damaged an oil tank, causing a large-scale fire and oil leakage. The fire engulfed the company's production facilities, posing a serious threat to infrastructure and personnel.
The UAV debris also damaged part of the production unit.
The company is currently carrying out damage control measures and calculating the amount of oil lost. There were no injuries among the employees.
This attack was another in a series of targeted Russian strikes on the port and oil refinery infrastructure of Odesa region in recent weeks, the company noted. The shelling killed at least nine people and injured dozens.
"The Russian Federation is purposefully attacking facilities that ensure the production, storage and export of agricultural products, trying to cause maximum damage to the Ukrainian processing industry and creating risks to international logistics, the environment and the stability of supplies to dozens of countries," Kernel summarized.
