A new body for the development of agricultural bioenergy has appeared in Ukraine

The Cabinet of Ministers has established a Coordination Council for the Development of Bioenergy Potential of Agriculture. About said the press service of the Ministry of Economy.

The new body will be headed by the Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture Oleksiy Sobolev.

The Council should unite the efforts of the government, business, and experts to develop bioenergy and speed up decision-making in this area.

It includes representatives of key ministries and government agencies, and may also involve scientists, entrepreneurs, and international experts.

In accordance with its powers, the Council will, in particular:

  • promote coordinated work of ministries, other central executive authorities, local state administrations, and the expert community in the field of bioenergy development;
  • study problematic issues and propose ways to solve them;
  • provide the government with proposals for improving the relevant legal framework.

The new body's priorities include increasing the share of biofuels in Ukraine, developing the raw material base for biofuel production, and reducing production costs, such as those related to logistics, etc.

  • In December 2024, the Cabinet of Ministers entered a new industrial park, Teofipol Eco Park, in the village of Teofipol, Khmelnytskyi region, into the Register, which runs on sugar factory waste.
