Gas storage facilities in Poland are 100% full. This is the highest level among EU countries

Poland has filled its gas storage facilities by 100%, reported minister of Energy Milos Motyka.
"Gas storage facilities in Poland are 100% full. This is the highest level of any country in the European Union. It also guarantees energy security and provides real protection against crises," Motyka wrote on social network X.
Data association Gas Infrastructure Europe as of September 23, the EU's gas storage facilities were 82% full.
Except for Poland, brussels' target of 90% was also exceeded by Portugal (99.53%), Belgium (94.02%), Romania (92.37%), the Czech Republic (92.19%), Italy (91.46%), and France (91.16%).
The least amount of gas was accumulated in Denmark, where the occupancy rate of gas storage facilities is 46.31%, Sweden (54.13%) and Latvia (55.09%).

Most EU member states have gas storage facilities on their territory. For data according to the European Council's website, in 2025, gas reserves in the bloc's countries will remain higher than the average for 2021.
Several EU members, including Italy, Austria, and Poland, have strategic gas reserves, Germany is considering the need for one, and The Netherlands plans to create an "emergency reserve" of gas as early as 2026.
- In 2014, the European Union accumulated the gas needed to get through the winter by more than two months ahead of schedule. European gas storage facilities were 90% full as early as August 19, and as of November 1, they were 90% full by more than 95%.
- In August 2025, the Vice Prime Minister for Recovery, Minister of Community and Territorial Development Oleksiy Kuleba said that Ukraine has accumulated 11 billion cubic meters of gas - this is 80% of the plan.
- As of on September 14 12.055 billion cubic meters of natural gas were stored in Ukrainian UGS facilities.
