India reacts to Trump's tariffs: unfair, unjustified, unreasonable

India reacted to the United States' imposition of an additional 25% duty on Russian oil purchases and promised to defend its interests.
"We reiterate that these measures areunfair, unjustified and unreasonable," the statement said statement Ministry of External Affairs of India.
The document emphasizes that "India will take all necessary measures to protect its national interests".
on August 6, US President Donald Trump signed an executive order titled "Countering Threats to the United States from the Government of the Russian Federation," which introduces penalties against India for purchases of Russian oil.
The decision comes into force 21 days after the signing of the decree.
Trump's executive order so far applies only to India, but it contains a mechanism for expanding the list.
- India is the second-largest importer of Russian oil, although it hardly bought any before the outbreak of a full-scale war in 2022.
