A massive overnight drone attack on November 28–29 left more than half a million customers in Kyiv without electricity. Another 100,000 customers were cut off in Kyiv region, the Ministry of Energy reported in its morning update.

The strike left parts of the Obolon, Solomianskyi, Shevchenkivskyi, Podilskyi, Holosiivskyi and Sviatoshynskyi districts of the capital without power, according to DTEK’s press service.

"Emergency repairs are already underway where the security situation allows. Power companies are doing everything possible to restore electricity supply as quickly as possible," the ministry said.

On Saturday, hourly outage schedules will be in place across all regions of Ukraine, while power-limitation schedules for industrial consumers and businesses will apply in most regions.

According to the Kyiv City State Administration, tram and trolleybus services on the right bank of the capital have been disrupted due to a loss of voltage in the overhead power grid.

  • The attack on the Ukrainian capital lasted throughout the night, with air-raid alerts in effect from 10:55 p.m. to 9:27 a.m.
  • According to preliminary data, six residential buildings were damaged. Two people were killed and at least 29 were injured.
  • This is the second massive Russian strike on Kyiv in a week. On November 25, seven people were killed and another 21 were wounded.
