Naftogaz agrees with Orlen to import 300 mcm of US gas on a postpaid basis

The Naftogaz Group has agreed with the Polish company Orlen to import 300 million cubic meters of American liquefied natural gas (LNG) on a postpaid basis and with delivery in the first quarter of 2026. This was reported by to the press service of Naftogaz.
"This time we are solving two important tasks at once. Firstly, it is to secure additional volumes of imported gas, which are urgently needed during the heating season due to Russian attacks. Secondly, our partners, together with the Polish export credit agency KUKE, provide us with a leverage for post-payment of the supplied volumes, which helps to cover the current liquidity shortage," said the Chairman of the Board of NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine Sergiy Koretsky .
The main terms were fixed on the sidelines of the P-TEC energy conference in Athens, and the leverage contract and insurance instruments will be signed in the near future.
Orlen's COO and Vice President Robert Soshinsky called the deal an important step to strengthen the region's energy security and confirm the company's role in the international gas market.
"Already in the first quarter of next year, more than 300 million cubic meters of American LNG will be delivered to our neighbors," he said.
The signing took place with the participation of the Minister of Energy of Ukraine Svitlana Hrynchuk, Minister of Energy of Poland Milos Motyk, US Secretary of Energy Chris Wright and US Secretary of the Interior Doug Bergam.
- Earlier in 2025, Naftogaz has already contracted about 450 million cubic meters of American LNG from Orlen.
