Ukraine plans to launch biomethane production with a total volume of 111 million cubic meters by the end of 2025. This was announced by the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food, Vitaliy Koval.

"This year, production facilities for 111 million cubic meters of biomethane will open, and this is just the beginning. After all, our production potential is estimated at almost 22 billion cubic meters per year," Koval noted.

It is noted that the importance of biomethane development was discussed during the roundtable "Digital Registries – the Basis of a Transparent Renewable Energy Market", organized by the State Agency for Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving.

Koval emphasized that all basic conditions for the development of the biomethane sector have already been created in Ukraine: the necessary legislation has been adopted, a biomethane register and a system of guarantees of origin have been created.

There are also currently state support programs in place, in particular for investment projects of 12 million euros or more.

"The State Agrarian Register can also be used to digitalize the biomethane industry. This platform will help ensure effective interaction between all market participants and automate the transparent distribution of state support in the bioenergy sector," Koval added.
