On the night of December 20, Russian forces targeted electricity generation, distribution, and transmission facilities in Mykolaiv, Kherson, Donetsk, and Dnipro regions, the Ministry of Energy reported in its morning briefing.

The attackers also fired on workers at a thermal power plant near the border, but no casualties were reported.

The Mykolaiv Regional Administration said the Russian forces struck critical infrastructure in the region using Shahed drones. As a result, settlements in Bashtanka, Mykolaiv, and parts of Voznesensk districts were left without power overnight.

Since nightfall, all critical and social infrastructure facilities have been operating on generators and alternative energy sources. Autonomous trolleybuses, buses, and private vehicles have also been deployed in Mykolaiv to maintain mobility.

Power supply disruptions were reported in Kherson, Donetsk, and Odesa regions as well. Emergency repair work is underway, with power companies operating in emergency mode to restore electricity to all customers as soon as possible.

Due to the damage to energy infrastructure, hourly power outage schedules are currently in effect across Ukraine. In addition, power limitation schedules for industrial consumers and businesses remain active nationwide.

  • On the evening of December 19, Russia carried out a large-scale missile attack on a port in Odesa region, killing eight people, most of whom were in a bus at the epicenter of the strike.
