Russia launches new drone strike on Naftogaz gas production and storage sites

Naftogaz of Ukraine has reported a new Russian attack on its infrastructure. According to a statement on the company’s website, on the evening of December 1 and the morning of December 2, Russian forces targeted facilities involved in gas production and storage using drones.
No employees were injured, but the company confirmed that infrastructure was damaged. The extent of the damage has not yet been disclosed.
Naftogaz crews are prepared to begin repairs once they receive authorization from the State Emergency Service.
Russian forces have been actively striking Naftogaz infrastructure since early October 2025. At the end of November, the company for the first time allowed journalists to visit one of the facilities hit in a massive Russian attack.
Footage published by the Associated Press showed metal structures torn apart and gas pipelines reduced to twisted debris after being struck by Russian munitions.
Due to the destruction of production facilities, Ukraine will be forced to import an additional 4.4 billion cubic meters of gas from the European Union and the United States.
On the night of November 8, Russia carried out another large-scale strike on Naftogaz infrastructure. It was the ninth attack since early October.
