On the night of October 16, Russian forces carried out a missile and air strike targeting gas production infrastructure in the Poltava region, the press service of DTEK reported.

"During the night, the enemy once again attacked DTEK Oil & Gas energy facilities with drones and missiles. As a result of the strike, operations at gas production sites in the Poltava region have been suspended," the company said in a statement.

UPDATED at 10:34. The press service of Naftogaz of Ukraine reported that the company’s facilities also came under attack.

"Unfortunately, there are casualties. Four of our colleagues are currently receiving medical assistance. Several sites in different regions were hit and sustained damage. Operations at a number of critical facilities have been halted. Our teams are already working to eliminate the consequences," said Serhii Koretskyi, CEO of Naftogaz.

This marks the sixth massive strike on gas infrastructure since the beginning of October. Such attacks directly affect domestic gas production volumes, which the company is now forced to partly offset through imports.

"I’m appealing to everyone — please use gas as efficiently as possible. Every cubic meter saved matters today," Koretskyi added.

The nationwide air raid alert on October 16 lasted from approximately 5:20 to 6:40 a.m. According to the military, missiles were launched toward Pavlohrad, Poltava, Kremenchuk, and Dnipro.
