"Situation difficult but under control": Heat to return to parts of Kyiv by evening
supplementedHeating will be restored in some districts of Kyiv by the end of the day, Klitschko and Kuleba say

Heat supply may be restored to some residential buildings in Kyiv as early as Friday evening following Russia’s massive nighttime attack on the capital, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko and Vice Prime Minister Oleksiy Kuleba said.
"The situation in the capital is very difficult, but life-support systems are under control. We hope to restore heating to some buildings tonight," Klitschko said in a social media post.
Kuleba confirmed the mayor’s statement, noting that timelines will vary depending on the extent of damage.
"In some districts of Kyiv, heating will be restored within 24 hours. In areas where the damage is more severe, additional time will be required," he said.
- As a result of the January 9 shelling, nearly 6,000 apartment buildings in Kyiv — about half of the city — were left without heating. Emergency power outage schedules were introduced on both the left and right banks of the capital.
- There were also temporary disruptions to water supply in the Pechersk district and on the left bank, but these have since been resolved.
- Earlier on Friday, Klitschko urged Kyiv residents who have the opportunity to temporarily leave the city for a few days and stay in places where heating and electricity are available.
