The largest producer of green energy in Ukraine will build a new 200 MW wind farm
Elementum Energy, the largest producer of green energy in Ukraine, has entered into an agreement to purchase a 200 MW wind farm project located at the intersection of Lviv, Ternopil, and Rivne regions. The total amount of investments in the project will exceed 300 million euros, the press service of the company informs.
The expected annual generation will be about 700 GWh, which will provide electricity to 600,000 people and will support Ukraine's energy system during periods of peak demand.
The acquisition process began in April 2024. By the end of 2025, the project is planned to be ready for construction. Preparatory work will include design, turbine selection, grid connection and implementation of ESG initiatives.
According to Olga Rybachuk, managing director of Elementum Energy, this project is part of the company's strategy to expand the portfolio of renewable energy sources and support the sustainable development of Ukraine even during the war.
The project will avoid more than 530,000 tons of CO₂ emissions every year. In addition, Elementum Energy is developing projects in the south of Ukraine, including the Lyman wind farm and Danube, which will add more than 200 MW of capacity upon completion. In 2023, the company completed the second stage of the Dniester wind farm with a capacity of 60 MW.
- The national action plan for renewable energy in Ukraine for the period up to 2030 envisages an increase in the installed capacity of wind power plants to 6.2 GW. By this time, the first marine (offshore) wind power plants should appear in Ukraine.
- According to Ukrenergo , Ukraine needs 4 GW of new wind power plants and 3.8 GW of solar power plants.
- Over the past two years, the business has actively invested in installing solar stations for its own needs.
