Ukraine's parliament exempts import of energy equipment from taxes

The Verkhovna Rada adopted bills No. 11258 and No. 11259, which canceled customs duties and value-added tax on the import of generators, batteries, and equipment for wind and solar generation. The documents were supported by 305 and 313 MPs respectively.

Also, tax benefits apply to equipment for mine countermeasures and equipment for the production of countermeasures against technical intelligence.

Tactical headphones for the military were also added to the list of exemptions.

In 2022, Ukraine already introduced tax incentives for energy recovery. From November 9, 2022, the Cabinet of Ministers exempted the import of generators, transformers and batteries from taxes. This made it possible to import tens of thousands of generators, the amount of the granted benefit reached hundreds of millions of hryvnias.

The benefits provided were short-term and ended in the spring of 2023.

The new exemptions will be in effect until the end of martial law or until January 1, 2026.
