By 2030, 98% of Ukrainians will have high-quality mobile communications – new strategy

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a strategy for the development of the electronic communications sector until 2030. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Digital Affairs.

The document defines how the country will restore and develop telecommunications networks during and after the war.

The key direction is the development of stable communications and the Internet. Also in focus is the creation of conditions for scaling 5G, IoT, and online education innovations for the development of the national economy.

The Ministry of Digital Affairs notes that this strategy is the first for the development of the sector since Ukraine's independence and was developed jointly with market representatives. It provides for:

  • restoration of 100% of damaged mobile and fixed networks in the regions;
  • providing 75% of households and 99% of social infrastructure facilities with fixed gigabit Internet;
  • providing 98% of the population with high-quality mobile communications in every corner of the country. Average data transfer speed – 90+ Mbps;
  • synchronization of Ukrainian legislation with European legislation and joining a single roaming area with the EU.

According to the Ministry of Digital Affairs, the implementation of the strategy will allow for the creation of an additional UAH 56 billion in GDP, which will strengthen the state budget.
