The Kyivavtodor municipal corporation has announced a tender for the overhaul of Kharkiv Highway in Dniprovsky and Darnytsky districts of the capital. This was reported by the press service of the Kyiv City State Administration.

The section to be overhauled is 5.4 km long. The expected cost of the procurement is over UAH 1.4 billion.

The auction will take place on September 1. The work is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2027.

Kharkivske Shosse is one of the main streets on the left bank of Kyiv. The highway connects Sobornosti and Leonid Kadeniuk Avenues with Mykola Bazhan Avenue. It was built in 1967 and reconstructed in 1987 .

The highway is currently experiencing significant road surface defects. These damages significantly complicate safe traffic on the highway and require urgent repairs, the Kyiv City State Administration explained.

The project involves the repair of roadways and sidewalks, stormwater drainage and outdoor lighting, as well as underground pedestrian crossings, taking into account the principles of barrier-free accessibility.

For example, at pedestrian crossings and bicycle crossings, the curbstone will be lowered to the level of the roadway and tactile navigation will be provided. And elevators are planned to be installed in the underground pedestrian crossing next to the Institute of High Molecular Weight Compounds Chemistry of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine .

In addition, new traffic lights are to be installed, and additional left-turn lanes are to be added where possible.
