Kyiv opens an overpass on Novokonstantinovskaya Street after repairs – photos

Traffic on the overpass on Novokonstantinovskaya Street has resumed in Kyiv after a large-scale overhaul. The main work was completed ahead of schedule. Specialists have actually built a new structure to replace the emergency one, which has not been repaired since 1969. This was reported to by by Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko.

The builders installed supports, girders and 117 girders of the span structures, and replaced the bridge deck. They also performed waterproofing and laid a new asphalt concrete pavement.

In addition, all underground and above-ground utilities were updated, and modern LED lighting, railings and barrier fencing were installed. The overpass is 218 meters long and 18 meters wide .

The renovated facility fully complies with the principles of barrier-free access. The overpass was equipped with lowered curbs and tactile navigation for people with disabilities.

Currently, work is underway to pave sidewalks on the approaches to the overpass and bicycle paths.

After the overhaul, the operational life of the overpass was extended for at least 30 years.

"We are gradually renovating the capital's bridges and overpasses for the safety and convenience of Kyiv residents," Klitschko said .
