Russia deliberately targets railways: Ukrainian railway workers killed and injured in attacks
supplementedOn April 25, Russian forces struck Ukraine's railway infrastructure, killing three railway workers in the Donetsk Oblast.
Four Ukrzaliznytsia employees suffered shrapnel wounds and concussions, according to the company's press service.
All three of the deceased worked as railroad electromechanics. They were:
→ Bohdan Kovalyov, 26 years old,
→ Serhii Kuznetsov, 37 years old,
→ Mykhailo Bandrivskyi, 26 years old.
Ukrzaliznytsia expressed its condolences to the families of the victims.
In addition, three Ukrzaliznytsia employees were injured in Russian attacks on the Kharkiv Oblast.
In the Cherkasy Oblast, enemy attacks damaged the railway infrastructure, but fortunately, there were no casualties.
Oleh Syniehubov, the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, earlier reported that the occupiers had attacked Balakliia in Izium Raion. Seven people were injured in the attack.
Later he clarified that the missile hit the Balakliia railway station. People who were in the passenger cars of the Kharkiv–Izium electric train were injured.
Three women, ages 37, 47, and 60, and four men, ages 39, 49, 49, and 62, sustained blast injuries of varying severity in the Russian attack. They are receiving medical attention.
The station building has broken windows and a damaged roof, Syniehubov added. The electric train, which at the time of the attack was 15 meters from the epicenter of the attack, was also damaged.
