Russia hits rail hub in Fastiv, forcing mass train cancellations and route changes
updated
As a result of the overnight shelling on December 6, the city of Fastiv in the Kyiv region was temporarily left without suburban rail service, Ukrzaliznytsia reported.
"The Fastiv hub station and suburban rolling stock were damaged," the company said.
Suburban routes from the capital will now run only to Motovylivka station; trains from Kozyatyn will terminate at Kozhanka, and services from Myronivka will operate only to Fastiv-2.

A shuttle service has been introduced between Kyiv and Motovylivka to replace the Kyiv–Fastiv-1 route.
Regional train No. 892 Fastiv–Slavutych has been shortened to run between Boyarka and Slavutych.
Suburban trains to Zhytomyr and Vasylkiv that were serviced by the Fastiv depot will temporarily cease operations:
→ No. 6491 Fastiv-1 – Zhytomyr
→ No. 7034 Zhytomyr – Kyiv-Pas (Suburban)
→ No. 7037 Kyiv-Pas (Suburban) – Zhytomyr
→ No. 6042 Vasylkiv-Center – Kyiv-Pas
→ No. 6041 Kyiv-Pas (Suburban) – Vasylkiv-Center
→ No. 6046 Vasylkiv-Center – Kyiv-Pas (Suburban)
To compensate for the loss of trains in Fastiv, rolling stock from the Chernihiv region has been transferred to the Kyiv region. As a result, train service between Chernihiv and Slavutych will be suspended:
→ No. 6851 Chernihiv – Slavutych
→ No. 6854 Slavutych – Chernihiv
→ No. 6853 Chernihiv – Slavutych
→ No. 6856 Slavutych – Chernihiv
UPDATED at 11:20. The Russian strike completely destroyed the station.

"The main building of the station in Fastiv was burned down by a drone strike. A meaningless strike from a military point of view, and the Russians could not help but understand this," President Volodymyr Zelenskyy responded.
Prime Minister Yulia Svirydenko clarified that two electric trains were also destroyed.
